The Geoffrey Hartman Graduate Student Travel Fund & The English Institute Development Fund

Geoffrey Hartman, renowned literary scholar and co-founder of the Fortunoff Video Archive for Holocaust Testimonies at Yale, who died on March 14, 2016, was a member of the Supervising Committee of The English Institute from 1973 to 1976, a Trustee from 1976 to 1986, and Trustee Emeritus thereafter. He valued The English Institute as a venue for active discussion of substantial lectures. Donations in his honor will help graduate students (at institutions more than fifty miles from the conference site) defray the cost of attending The English Institute’s conferences, continuing and extending the program of supporting graduate student participation.
